Description

The Head of Seneca  or Pseudo-Seneca reproduction in bronze of the bust  romano from the end of the 1st century BC, discovered in Herculaneum in 1754 and kept in the Archaeological Museum of Naples.

It is probably the portrait of Lucio Seneca,  the famous philosopher romano from the 1st century AD Together with Agrippina he was the regent of the empire supported by Nero. Seneca's thought it is based on the fact that the action of politicians had to be influenced by the aristocracy to be brought to positive results.

His stoicism is based on the idea that destructive emotions such as anger and pain must be removed, that wealth and virtue work hand in hand, and that one should not run away from hardship. This detachment from the body that man can achieve, he calls it autarkeia (Self-sufficiency).
