Description

Bas-relief of  Luck, reproduction in terracotta , inspired by the decoration of a lamp of roman art,  I sec. AD, preserved in the Archaeological Museum, Este.

Represents Fortuna, the winged goddess with  the horn of plenty from which he dispenses gifts to men. In the cult of Fortuna (or Tyche) the reasons of destiny and fertility are combined and its famous sanctuary was located in Preneste (the current Palestrina) to which the entire population of Lazio flocked to ask for answers on the future. The goddess was in fact responsible for the fate of the Romans.

It is often depicted with spikes, a crown but above all with a cornucopia, which is an emblem of abundance and fertility.
